Rainy Fall Family at Middleton Farm’s Sunflower Fields, Pasco, WA

As nice as our fall weather usually is here in the Tri-Cities, WA, it’s good to remember that it is still fall, and the weather can be ANYTHING!

You might remember this family from last year’s fall flower sessions!  Last year, we had a beautiful sunny evening, and this year, it was raining!  We weren’t able to be flexible with our session date, so this might make you ask a really good question:

What do we do in case of bad weather?

Well, most often in the case of rain or extreme wind, we’ll plan on a reschedule.  I totally understand how tricky this is, especially if you have booked professional hair and makeup!  Rescheduling a session is a lot of work, and sometimes it’s just not possible to do!

So then what options do we have?

If we’re not able to reschedule your session we can do a couple of things to mitigate the effects of the weather on your photo experience.  First, we can choose a location that is somewhat protected from the elements.  Certain spots are more protected from the wind, or out of the rain, and we might opt for a place like that.  Second, if there’s just no avoiding the rain, then I bring along some cute umbrellas, and we use them!  They actually make a pretty cute prop!

Either way, scheduling fall sessions always requires a bit of grace and flexibility.  While I just can’t control the weather, I will promise to work hard to make the best of the conditions we have, and make your experience the best it can be.  In the end, it’s the togetherness and connection with your loved ones that really makes your photos timeless and meaningful.  So come with a positive attitude, and we’ll make magic–even in the rain!

Sara, Kyle, and Everleigh, thank you for just rolling with our rainy day, and bringing the warmth and love anyway!  I love getting to document your family, and Everleigh’s milestones!  She’s so precious, and I love the personality she’s growing into!
