It had been a while since I offered mini sessions because, honestly, they weren’t that popular. I don’t know if I just didn’t market them well, or if I didn’t have a big enough pool of people to offer them to, but they just didn’t seem worth the effort. I’m also always scared that we’ll get terrible weather and it will be a nightmare to reschedule everything. But this year, when my friend Misty offered the use of her property, I just felt like taking a chance!
Misty and her family live on acreage in West Richland that happened to come with a really cool, old, white barn. We did her family’s fall photos there in 2023. So I set aside a weekend in early October (hoping for the best weather!), created some marketing materials, and hoped some families would be interested. And I was pleasantly surprised by the interest and enthusiasm!
I had such a great bunch of people to photograph at the white barn! We celebrated birthdays, a 50th anniversary (Congrats Darryl and Steve!), a homecoming, we had small families, and an extended family (which I typically don’t recommend for a mini session, but they booked multiple slots!). We had the most perfect fall weather for both days, and the icing on the cake was the wood swing that Misty put up in the tree next to the barn. We had so much fun on it! Picture perfect!
I’m not sure when or where I’ll offer mini sessions next, but this was a really great experience for everyone, and it was just perfect for those families looking to get some fresh photos, but maybe don’t need or want the fuss of a whole hour-long session.
Thank you to all the families who came out to the white barn this fall to capture some memories with me!
