Magical Sunrise Rope Swing Family, Yakima River, West Richland, Washington

Well this was something different (and BEAUTIFUL!)!

My friends Misty and Tony, who I’ve photographed many times, and who hosted mini sessions at their white barn last fall came up with a crazy idea, and it turned out SO beautiful!

Misty and Tony live on acreage along the Yakima River in West Richland.  Their river access is seriously beautiful!  Tony rented a Telehandler for the weekend, brought it to the banks of the river and then built an extra large wooden rope swing to hang from it, and I was lucky enough to get to show up and capture the magic!

Because they live on the west side of the river, we opted for a sunrise session so that the sun would be at their backs when they’re on the water!  I know getting four kids dressed and ready by 6:30 in the morning is no small feat, but it totally paid off and we got such a dreamy, glowy sunrise and backlighting!  It’s right out of a fairy tale!

Each of their kids had a turn on the swing, and it was big enough to fit the whole family, too!  Their neighbor came out to help operate the telehandler and we brought the swing in and out over and over for each combination of people.  They picked the best spot along the river!  Aren’t the lily pads just the best?!

Misty and Tony, thanks again for coming up with this fun photo session, and for going for the sunrise time slot! It sounded a little crazy at first, but WOW did the photos turn out so great!  Please invite me along to your next crazy idea!  I’m here for it!
