My client last weekend asked me how long I’ve been a photographer.  This should be an easy question and I should have that number always in my head, but I drew a blank.  I had to think real hard, and in the end I’m pretty sure I said the wrong answer!  But I’m pretty sure this is just an indicator of the balance of my life lately.

I’ll be honest, sometimes it’s hard to come back to photography in the spring.  Winter time is very slow for photography because the fall rush is over and it’s very cold outside, and every spring inquiries and bookings pick up and I get excited for the warm weather to come.  But this year felt different somehow.  My personal life has been very full and very busy, and it took me a little bit longer to feel ready to take on clients again.  I had so many inner doubts!  Is this still fun?  Will people even book me?  Am I just too busy to run a business on the side? Am I still relevant in the market?  Do I really need to post on social media?

But I quietly booked some sessions this spring, and quietly shot them, and quietly delivered them and I had a really good time doing it, and now I’m ready to get back to sharing about it!

This sweet family won the session I gave to the Sagebrush Montessori annual fundraising auction!  It felt great to use my time to support this great school!  Katy invited her parents, Steve and Diane to share the photo experience with her son, and we picked a beautiful spring night to do it!  Spots along the river here in the Tri are pretty magical, and look nothing like the shrub-steppe ecosystem of most of the area.  When you live out here, green trees are pretty special, and this spot always delivers on the fresh green feel.  We had a session filled with fun, giggles, games, and sweet moments between grandparents and grandchild.  And it got me out of my winter funk and ready to take on documenting your adventures the rest of the year.  Thank you Katy for your donation to Sagebrush Montessori, and for coming out for photos with me!

This is my 9th year in business!  Maybe I should do something next year to celebrate a decade!
