Although Denisse and Vishaal got married in a civil ceremony 8 years ago, they wanted to make it official in the eyes of God. They planned a beautiful, intimate ceremony at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Kennewick, WA, with just their family and close friends. A Catholic wedding Mass was a first for me, but Denisse and Vishaal had so many beautiful details to their day, it turned out so gorgeous!
As Denisse walked down the aisle with her father, she had the help of her two boys to carry the train of her long, beautiful dress. They were such good helpers! Denisse’s two brothers spoke during the ceremony, and her relatives from Mexico brought the most beautiful crystal and golden lazo (lasso) for the couple to wear during part of the ceremony as a symbol of their unity. They also incorporated las arras matrimoniales (marriage coins) and their ornate box in the ceremony. The priest blesses the coins, which are then given from the groom to the bride symbolizing their dedication to each other. Along with placing flowers before the image of the Virgin of Guadalupe these beautiful traditions were really special to include in their ceremony.
After the ceremony, we took family group photos at the altar since it was about 105F outside, and then we did some bride and groom portraits outside in the shade. Denisse wore a beautiful long veil and I got to play with it in some of their pictures. I wish I had more hands for that part, but I love how dreamy they turned out!
Denisse and Vishaal, thank you so much for having me along to document your special day! Your wedding day was so peaceful and beautiful! I wish you a lifetime of happiness, and love!
