As a parent of young children, we’ve been at that stage in life where bedtime happens during that golden hour/sunset time of day, and I’ve been realizing lately that I probably spent years never watching the sunset, because I was in the midst of getting kids to bed (and for my kids, this can be an hours-long process!).
So what a treat it is to get to spend a sunset in a beautiful location with an amazing family! I’ll never take that for granted!
Meet the Steward Family!
I got to know them two years ago, when Peggy reached out about family photos. That year we had a smoky summer day with some weird light, but the river views were dreamy and it was so fun to get to know them.
Fast forward two years, and now the boys, Kainoa and Kalani are off to college and studying nursing (just like mom and dad!) and the girls, Kyrie and Kiana are so grown up too! Peggy requested some epic views of the river, so we headed out to Twin Sisters near Wallula, Washington.
This is one of my favorite places to photograph! There’s great open shade, interesting rock formations, beautiful sand and desert, and that view of the river is outstanding! We had a perfect, cloudless evening, and the most glowy sunset. It’s just so peaceful to be up there!
It was so much fun catching up with the kids, and Peggy and Aron got to spend some time with just them in some photos as well. It’s always important to capture mom and dad just being mom and dad!
Peggy and Aron, your family is so wonderful! Thank you for spending an evening with me and letting me tell your story! It’s so amazing to see your kids grow up into such accomplished young people! I hope you treasure these photos with epic views–I can’t wait to see what you do with them!
